We pride ourselves on providing our guests with wonderfully comfortable accommodation, excellent meals and personalised service. In addition to our Homestead in Poikkijärvi, we own three private wilderness lodges which we have designed and built with our own hands. Each lodge has a unique setting and atmosphere and allows our guests to experience the genuine and rustic Lapland lifestyle. After a big day of outdoor activities, you can relax in the sauna or enjoy drinks in front of the fireplace before dinner is served by our excellent chef. The peace you’ll enjoy at our lodges is second to none.
FJELLBORG HOMESTEAD & KENNEL
The Fjellborg Homestead & Kennel in Poikkijärvi, where most of our trips begin and end, is easily reached from Kiruna Airport. The Homestead enjoys an ideal setting by the magnificent Torne River, which is a musher’s highway in winter, and is located just a short walk away from the world famous ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi. At the Homestead you will stay in comfortable and private accommodation and have the opportunity to get to know our friendly huskies and learn about the different aspects of running a sled dog kennel.
Our Väkkärä Lodge is a beautifully situated wilderness retreat by the idyllic Lake Väkkärä. Here you will enjoy comfortable facilities with a still and silent wilderness at your doorstep. After a day out in the snow, the sauna provides soothing relaxation and in the evening our chef prepares lavish meals based on the exciting local cuisine. The spacious Main Lodge is a great place to relax and enjoy the ambiance of Arctic Lapland. As you return to your cosy and private log cabin for the night, you’ll have a good chance to catch the northern lights as they dance across the sky.
JÄKKÄLÄ HUNTING CABIN
The rustic Jäkkälä Hunting Cabin will transport you back to a simpler time; the cabin was built by Kenth Fjellborg’s grandfather back in the days when haymaking on the Jäkkälä bogs was crucial for the survival of both man and livestock. On our way to Jäkkälä we travel along the legendary Tobacco Trail, which in the 17th century was a trade route connecting Lapland with Russia. Our cosy log cabins are nestled peacefully among the trees and in true Lapland style there is of course an excellent sauna on the premises.
The delightful Sevuvouma Homestead is our home away from home. Situated at the foot of the impressive Vittangivaara fell – the last outpost before the great wilderness – our lodge in Sevuvouma has the peaceful atmosphere of a genuine Lapland homestead. Here you can spend the day reading a good book by the warming fire or explore the unspoilt surroundings on snowshoes. In the evening we will warm up the sauna, which, most probably, is the best sauna in the world.
