This unforgettable winter program combines exhilarating days in the great outdoors with relaxing stays in two different wilderness lodges, each with its own unique character and charm.

After an exciting day of dog sledding and wilderness exploration, you will arrive to the lodge in the afternoon and experience a completely new scenery and setting. In the evening, the sauna offers welcome relaxation while our chef prepares a fabulous meal that feature locally sourced ingredients for an authentic Lapland flair. Arctic Lapland is one of the world’s best viewing spots for the Aurora Borealis so chances are you will be able to admire this natural phenomenon against the backdrop of the dark northern sky during your Lodge-to-Lodge adventure!

Excursion Itinerary

Day 1
During a welcome lunch you are briefed on the itinerary and introduced to the basics of dog driving. Next you will change into expedition gear and get ready to meet the friendly Fjellborg Alaskan huskies. In the afternoon we set out on our excursion, dog sledding through the wintry landscape towards the Väkkärä Lodge where we will stop for an overnight break in cosy log cabins. In the evening there will be time to relax in the sauna before sitting down for a delicious freshly prepared dinner.

Day 2
After breakfast in the morning of our second day we feed the dogs and get ready to continue our journey. Today’s destination is the Sevuvouma Homestead, a comfortable wilderness retreat with the atmosphere of a traditional Lapland home. The beautiful setting at the foot of the Vittangivaara fell creates a “last outpost” experience. During your stay at Sevuvouma you will be able to relax in the best sauna in Lapland and enjoy gourmet meals, featuring the finest Lapland flavours.

Day 3
After a hearty breakfast on our third day we head back to the Väkkärä Lodge and as we travel through the wilderness there is a good chance we will encounter wildlife along the way. At Väkkärä we will eat dinner and spend quality time in the large main building before retiring to our private log cabins. On clear nights the northern lights provide spectacular evening entertainment.

Day 4
On the final morning of our expedition we set out in a westerly direction, with the Homestead in Poikkijärvi as our goal. When we arrive at the kennel there will be time to change clothes and sit down to enjoy coffee or tea and some snacks. If you are departing from Kiruna airport on the same day you will receive a transfer to the airport in time for your return flight.
